Martin Herbert is a writer and critic based in Berlin. He is the author of Mark Wallinger (Thames & Hudson, 2011),The Uncertainty Principle (Sternberg Press, 2014) and Tell Them I Said No (Sternberg Press, 2016). He is associate editor of ArtReview, and a regular contributor to Artforum, Frieze, Art Monthly, and others. His writing has been published in newspapers and magazines since 1996, and his catalogue essays have appeared in publications for, among others, The Museum of Modern Art, Tate Britain, the Hayward Gallery, the Serpentine Gallery, and numerous commercial galleries. He lectures regularly internationally. Between 2013–15 he served on the acquisitions committee for Arts Council England, and is a juror for the 2017 Turner Prize.
